The Artwork
My approach is not based on a concept or preconceived plan, but rather on intuition and feeling. With large brushes I smear and sweep, again and again and each time with a different brush, until I am satisfied. The contrasts in color and shape give my work its recognisability. The clean lines and shapes that give us clarity and direction clash with the moving background. This symbolizes a search for balance between freedom and bondage, or between the surprising and predictable.

Color is extremely important for Arco in almost every part of his life. His fascination for color and shape is absolutely reflected in his artwork. In his late twenties he lost his creativity. It was during the recovery from depression in 2023 that Arco found his passion back for painting. During this period Arco started developing his abstract style.
