I was getting out of my car on a grey overcast day when I noticed this feather on a bush in my garden. It was cold and I was tired. All I wanted to do was go inside. But a part of me really wanted to photograph this feather. Despite my inner protests (“Don’t you have enough photos of feathers?”), the artist in me won and I took the shot. I’m glad I did because this has become one of my favourite images. I love the sense of upliftment and support it conveys.

I mainly take close-up photographs of natural objects and my work is celebratory and joyful in nature. I like to show the fragile, tender aspects of the natural world through extremely close-up lenses that often reveal sights unseen with the naked eye. This often, but not always, renders my subjects abstract. I like to express the delight I feel in finding colour, shape and form in nature. My images are a visual representation of gratitude and wonder.
